A mile above the sinking paradise
This photo was taken during our honeymoon in Maldives. We were on the sailplane from Four Seasons Resorts Kuda Huraas in the Malé Atoll to F.S. Landaa Giraavaru in Baa Atoll. A short trip of 80 miles or 20 mins of plane ride. The sailplane belongs to Trans Maldivian Air, http://www.tma.com.mv.
With the highest natural ground of 7 feet above the sea level, Maldives is the flattest country in the world. As of today, she is facing a series of challenging from monther nature where the rise of ocean level from global warming is threatening her existence. The kingdom of thousand islands, that lies across the equator, may not be here for our next generation to witness her beauty.
